Manyverse is an open source, decentralized social network that allows users to share and discover content without relying on centralized servers or a single company. It´s built on the Secure Scuttlebutt (SSB) protocol and allows for peer 2 peer communication and data storage, and aims to provide a more private and censorship resistant alternative to traditional social networks.
How to Create Manyverse Account
Creating a Manyverse account is a bit different than creating an account on a traditional centralized social network. Lets see how:
- Download the Manyverse app from Google Play Store (for Android) or the App Store (for iOS).
- Open the app and select “Create a new identity“
- A new identity key will be generated for you. This key will be used to identify you on the network and allow others to connect with u.
- Set a passphrase. This passphrase will be used to encrypt your identity key and keep it secure. Be sure to remember this passphrase, as you´ll need it to access your account in the future.
- Once you have completed these steps, your account will be created!
It’s important to note that since Manyverse is decentralized, there is no central authority that can reset your password, so be sure to remember your passphrase and keep it safe.
Benefits to Using Manyverse
Privacy: Built on the Secure Scuttlebutt (SSB) protocol, which allows for peer to peer communication and data storage. This means that your data is not stored on a central server and is instead distributed among the users of the network. This makes it more difficult for outside parties to access your data.
Censorship resistance: Because there´s no central authority controlling the network, it´s much harder for governments or other groups to censor content or block access to the platform.
Decentralized: Manyverse is a decentralized network, which means that it is not controlled by any single company or organization. This makes it more resilient to failures or outages and less susceptible to manipulation.
Open source: Is an open source project, which means that anyone can view and contribute to the code. This allows for a community of developers to work together to improve the platform and add new features.
Interoperability: Can be easily integrated with other SSB based apps and services, allowing you to easily share and interact with other users across different platforms.
Own your data: All the data you post on Manyverse is stored on your device, and you have the full control over it, you can share it with anyone or keep it private.
